this is a specific usb2.0 port so as long as the usb pci card you install is usb2.0 compatible then the hub will be,you will after have 7 spare usb2.0 ports,

using this method is better because it 1)saves on system resources and 2)its much cheaper than buying a second usb2.0 pci card

also as most modern motherboards simply come with up to 3 pci slots you dont want to use 2 of them newly for usb expansion,you may need the others for make friends cards,sound cards or robbery controllers in the adjectives
