The 8500GT would be my best bet for that budget. It is a DX10 card, and DX10 is only supported contained by Vista.
You would also gain overall system improvement if you increase RAM. 2Gb is best for Vista. Memory modules are cheap now but maybe not for long.
beforehand buying any new hardware brand name sure it is vista compatable cause everything on the markert is not .and the hardware manufactory are not up to date. so everything right presently isstill xp .
and your ruuning vista with 512 megs of memory i would verbs about getting more memory up to aleast 2 gigs for better preformance for vista .
