Microphone sound out?

I bought a computer microphone a couple of months ago from best buy for similar to 10 bucks, and when i plug it in the red slot on the subsidise, i hear the microphone, but other people cant hear it, no concern what. i checked the settings for the program i use, and there fine, so im assuming its my mic. any accepted wisdom?

Microphone sound out?

what do u mean by i can hear the microphone..? within case u close-fisted than u can hear ur voice tru the microphone, then nearby is some problem with the settings.. try switchin it on n bad n make sure that the mute button is not on..
Make sure that the red input is for the mic and not the LINE IN input.
ok double click the volume icn and see if mic shows,if it does click mute, that will stop you audible range yourself, then click option and properties, then click recordind button and tick mic on the record if not ticked, this time variety sure its not muted and turn volume of it to about partially to 3/4.come out of these windows on the program you are using to converse to people check the preferences and check your soundcard is special as the input or mic used and that should do it
