I hear there be a trick to getting them together. Anyone know it?

Is it the only opening you can connect to the internet . If so use someone else computer and see if you can download the drivers for the modem. Win98SE might need the updated interpretation of the modem. It is probably not a generic modem driver...Thanks
Why don`t you get Windows 98 SE(Second Edition). It`s matching thing as 98, with the sole purpose that it has more drivers, and a better pictographic and greater compatibility
